Overview & Background

Every athlete wants to know: How do I stack up against the best? BeOne Sports answers that question with hard data. Athletes upload a video of their swing, throw, or shot from any smartphone. Within minutes, the platform's ML engine breaks down their movement frame by frame — measuring joint angles, body positioning, and timing at the exact moments that matter most. The flagship feature, Comparative Training™, places their technique side-by-side with professional and Olympic athlete models, generating a BeOne Score that tells them precisely where they stand and what to improve. For coaches and organizations, BeOne Sports replaces clipboards and gut feelings with dashboards, trend lines, and objective performance data — scalable from a single player to an entire program.

Use Cases & Applications

For Athletes — Upload any training video and get an instant biomechanical breakdown. See exactly how your mechanics compare to the pros. Track your improvement over weeks, months, and seasons with clear performance trends. For Coaches — Manage your entire roster from one dashboard. Assign video analyses, leave frame-specific feedback, and monitor every player's progress without being physically present at every session. For Organizations — Run a data-driven program. Manage multiple coaches, control access with role-based permissions, and surface organization-wide performance insights across your entire athlete roster. For Performance Analysts — Dive deep into angle metrics, movement timelines, and spider charts. Identify mechanical inefficiencies invisible to the naked eye and back every recommendation with data.

The Challenge

The core challenge was building a platform that makes complex biomechanical analysis feel effortless. Athletes needed to go from 'recording a video on their phone' to 'seeing exactly how their elbow angle compares to a pro' in minutes — not hours, not days. The ML processing pipeline had to handle heavy video analysis reliably while keeping users informed in real time. The experience had to be seamless across both web and mobile, because athletes train everywhere. And the platform had to scale from a single weekend warrior to a Division I program with hundreds of athletes and dozens of coaches — all on the same system, with the right people seeing the right data.

Our Solution

We built BeOne Sports as a cross-platform application — a full web portal and a native mobile app — sharing a unified backend and business logic layer. This means athletes and coaches get the same powerful experience whether they're at their desk reviewing film or on the field capturing a new clip. The Comparative Training™ engine is the heart of the platform. When an athlete uploads a video, the ML pipeline detects 33 skeletal points across every frame, calculates joint angles, and identifies the critical moments in each movement — bat contact, ball release, foot plant. It then overlays these metrics against pre-analyzed professional athlete models to produce the BeOne Score: one clear number that quantifies technique quality, with detailed breakdowns showing exactly where to improve. A tiered subscription model (Rookie at $5/mo, Professional at $15/mo, Elite at $35/mo) keeps the platform accessible. Coaches and organizations get dedicated management tools — player rosters, multi-coach support, role-based access, and team-wide analytics.

Technical Implementation

BeOne Sports is built as a monorepo powering both a modern web application and a native mobile app from a single codebase. The backend delivers end-to-end type safety from database to client, eliminating entire categories of bugs and enabling rapid feature development. The ML pipeline processes uploaded videos through pose estimation (33 keypoints per frame), angle calculation, and critical-moment detection. Processing runs asynchronously with real-time status updates, so athletes see their results within minutes of uploading. Video streaming is handled through Azure Cloud with secure, token-based access — athletes can scrub frame-by-frame through their analyzed videos with pose overlays rendered in real time. Payments and subscriptions are managed through Stripe with automated webhook handling for upgrades, downgrades, and renewals. Infrastructure runs on Azure Kubernetes Service with automated CI/CD pipelines, multi-environment support, and zero-downtime deployments.

Results & Impact

BeOne Sports transforms how athletes train by replacing subjectivity with precision. Instead of a coach saying 'your elbow looks low,' the platform shows the athlete their elbow is 12 degrees below the optimal angle at the exact millisecond of release — and shows them what the pro looks like at that same moment. The platform scales effortlessly — the same system that serves a high school pitcher analyzing their first video also powers collegiate programs managing hundreds of athletes across multiple sports and coaching staff. The subscription model creates natural growth: athletes start on Rookie, upgrade to Professional when they want coach collaboration and Comparative Training™, and organizations adopt Elite when they need program-wide analytics and multi-coach management. By shipping both web and mobile from a shared codebase, the team delivers new features simultaneously across platforms — cutting development time and ensuring a consistent experience everywhere athletes train.

Future Outlook

BeOne Sports' roadmap includes expanded sport coverage beyond baseball, basketball, football, and soccer into golf, tennis, track & field, and combat sports. AI-powered coaching recommendations will generate personalized training plans based on comparative analysis data. Real-time video analysis aims to deliver biomechanical feedback during live training sessions — not just after upload. Team analytics dashboards will surface program-wide performance trends and improvement tracking. Plans also include wearable device integration to combine video-based biomechanics with data from devices like WHOOP and Apple Watch for a complete performance picture.
